Planning a Nepal Elopement:

When planning an elopement in Nepal, it is best to plan during the months of October and November.  Why?  Because it’s out of monsoon season and offers better visibility for dry hiking journeys.  Likewise, you’re probably curious on how to get to Nepal, right?

Good question!  The Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM), is just east of Kathmandu in Nepal.  On that same note, there are several long-distance flights to Nepal coming from the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania.  Consequently, it is likely it they will involve a layover in the Middle East first.

Nepal is home to the largest mountain range in the world, the Himalayas.  Specifically in Nepal it’s most known for extraordinary hiking.  And not just the famed Mount Everest either, there is so much more that is less touristy!

Furthermore, did you know that that Nepal has 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites you can visit?  So when you start talking about Nepal elopement locations, where do you start?!

Nepal’s UNESCO sites are as follows:
  1. Durbar Square can be found in Kathmandu.  It was once a royal courtyard, so why not visit in the early morning hours with your Nepal adventure wedding photographer?
  2. Patan Dubar Square is an offbeat area found 8km east of Kathmandu and comes with ancient history links too!
  3. Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a complex you should stay away from.  It’s a square that is constantly congested.
  4. Visiting Boudhanath Stupa could be part of your adventurous elopement in Nepal.  After all it is a Himalayan monument oldest and biggest ever built!  So bring it on history buffs!
  5. You’ll find a protected animal sanctuary in Nepal named the Chitwan National Park. You’ll find countless types of animals such as a one-horned rhino and the Royal Bengal tiger.  They have over 350 square miles to run free protected.  Also you’ll find temples and waterfalls hiding out within this large national park.
  6. Changu Narayan Temple is a ancient Hindu temple that is surrounded by forests.  History meets nature!
  7. Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Buddha!  Who wouldn’t want to visit during your Nepal elopement or honeymoon?!
  8. Pashupatinath Temple is not a Nepal adventure wedding location we would suggest, you should visit on your honeymoon in Nepal!  It is deemed one of the holiest places in the world for the Hindu follows.
  9. Sagarmatha National Park (home to Mt. Everest)
  10. Swayambhunath Stupa is over 2,000 years old and represents the 4 elements of earth, fire, wind, and water.  It also has symbols of Nirvana.  Again, more of a holy relic to witness during your honeymoon in Nepal.

Lastly, we would love to introduce you to some offbeat Nepal elopement locations and hikes too!

Planning an elopement in Bhutan:

Talk about ethereal elopement locations…. Bhutan is the definition of!  Often considered the worlds last Shangri La.  A place to find yourself, peace, comfort, wisdom, and experience rich cultural heritage.  Not to mention the choices of Bhutan wedding locations, they are endless!

Being in the midst of the famed Himalayan mountain range, the area boasts an abundance of views.  Over 600 glacier outlets live here alongside of the 2,600+ glacier lakes!  So with those features also comes crazy shaped mountains, deep canyons, and spanning countryside views.  Sounds like heaven to me!  There is also more opportunities for shorter day hikes versus several days.  Hello Bhutan hiking elopement!

Getting to Bhutan you’ll need to take a flight to Paro Airport (PBH).  The major cities of Bangkok, Singapore, Kathmandu, Dhaka and New Delhi are all serviced by Drukair and Bhutan Airlines.  This is not a place you just rent a car and go.  Special and Serious note… While exploring Bhutan, all foreign tourists must be accompanied by a licensed guide at all times (there are checkpoints where you will get caught if not).  Furthermore, there are restricted areas that require in advance permits.

If you are seeking a luxury hotel in Bhutan for your elopement, look no further!  One of our favorite hotels sits mountainside in Bhutan, Six Senses Bhutan.  It’s tagline even boasts, “the happiest place in the world” and we could not agree more!

Traveling to Jeju Island, is easy!   Take an in country flight from Incheon Airport (ICN) in Seoul it’s best to transfer to the Gimpo Airport (GMP) via AREX train, coach or taxi.  The airlines that fly to Jeju Island are as follows: Korean Air, Asiana, Air Busan and Jeju Air.  Then you’re on your way to CJU (the Jeju International airport) to the island!

Jeju Island Elopements:

Although Jeju Island is only 700 some square miles, it offers a lot of adventure even within the tourist locations. Believe us, we are NOT fans of taking you to tourist locations.  But there are ways to make a must see / do tourist location doable within your Jeju Island elopement adventure!

For example, paying to privatize places like the famed Manjanggul Lava Tube Cave on Jeju Island in South Korea for wedding photos!  These rock formations are incredible to witness in person.  Or arriving before sunrise to explore Cheonjiyeon Waterfall and Jeongbang Waterfall during your Jeju Island elopement!

Hiking during your Jeju Island wedding adventure is also an option.  For example the volcano crater Hallasan is a fabulous hike and an invigorating 10km trek.  At the top you’ll be greeted by a view of the crater.  Some days it looks like a beautiful turquoise lake and others, a brown mud hole depending on the light, but a beautiful feature to lay your eyes on nonetheless!  Being a tiny island between the Korea Strait and the East China Sea, there are endless Jeju Island South Korea elopement photo options with high sea cliffs surrounding!
